The Beauty of Needing Each Other

Listen on:

Do you need encouragement in allowing others to help carry the weight of your struggles during life's tough challenges?

Or are the weight of other people's burdens crushing you? Today's podcast discusses how biblical burden-bearing honors God—by loving others well and allowing them to love and serve us. And how bearing one another's burdens does not mean taking the burden from someone and being crushed by the weight of it--but instead coming alongside them to give support.

We discuss Moses in Exodus 17, who grew weary in battle while holding up the staff of God. However, if he lowered his arms, the Israelites began to lose. So, Aaron and Hur helped bear the burden and put a rock under him so he could sit down—and then they helped hold up his arms for him.

I am likewise excited to introduce our special guest— award-winning author of Challenges Won’t Stop Me and the newly released—Keep Moving Forward, Melony Brown. Melony shares a snippet of her story about the significance of rest and accepting help from others during a health crisis—in the section on rest in my upcoming book, Securely Held: Finding Significance and Security in the Shelter of God's Embrace.

Don't miss Melony's inspiring story of overcoming a stroke and brain surgery with the help of others who helped carry the load of the physical and financial burden.
