OVERCOMING MOM GUILT & RELEASING OUR ADULT CHILDREN
Do you ever wrestle with mom guilt or grapple to release control and responsibility for your adult children? This week's podcast guest, award-winning author, inspirational speaker, and health coach Christine Trimpe, can relate, as she has been there herself!
Christine and I delve into overcoming mom guilt and releasing our adult children—parenting from our knees—and learning that joy and sorrow can coexist when a plot twist occurs, and their lives look much different than expected.
Christine recounts her son's traumatic brain injury and the legal battle she faced with an insurance company and the medical community. And we discuss the biblical character Jochebed, the mother of Moses. It took tremendous courage for Jochebed to hide Moses from the Egyptians and great faith to release him to the Lord. She had faith that her son Moses was her people's promised deliverer.
Yet how was her mama's heart affected when Moses committed murder and fled into the wilderness? Did she despair or bear the guilt upon herself when his life looked much different than expected?
Christine likewise shares the three most impactful lessons she learned through the trials with her son:
· You can carry joy and sorrow simultaneously
· Our job is to trust God. God's job is the outcome
· God cares about our children more than we will ever comprehend
