Whiplash Much?

Whiplash Much?

"But thou, O Lord, art a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head." Psalm 3:3

Has your head hung low this week, dear reader? Mine has risen and fallen so many times over the last several days, I feel as if I have whiplash.

Exciting things happening in my ministry, I raise it high. Conflict with a friend, I let it drop.

My husband is witnessing numerous conversions while he ministers in Haiti, up it goes. Devastating news at home, I let it drop as lead.

Yes, whiplash. That is until I held it still long enough for the Holy Spirit to hit me between the eyes with Psalm 3. He showed me that I am unable to hold my head in an upright position on my own. If I continue this vain effort, it will constantly jerk back and forth, depending on my circumstances.

Don't let yourself become a 'jerk' like me, dear friends. :)

Don't focus on your circumstances, look up at Him. It is the Lord who is a 'shield about us, He is our glory, the lifter of our heads'!

Matthew Henry wrote, "Man has this advantage above the beasts, in the structure of his body, that whereas they are made to look downwards, as their spirits must go, his is made erect to look upwards, because upwards his spirit must shortly go and his thoughts should now rise."

Look up, dear ones. Remember, this is not our home. Satan is buffeting us on all sides, but don't focus on him. Jesus is our shield, the lifter of our heads, and He will return to cast out the evil one for good.

Pray with me, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.

"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (the evil one)."

"Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.

It is Well With My Soul, by Horatio Spafford

If that doesn't lift our heads, I don't know what will!
